Every Jellycat outfit we make starts with a tiny spark of an idea. Some come from a colour, some from a season — but our peach Jellycat outfit? That one came straight from the fruit aisle of my local Tesco.
A peach-shaped obsession
If you've ever had a flat peach — the squashed, doughnut-shaped kind — you'll know exactly what I mean. I first spotted a little punnet of them tucked away in Tesco one summer afternoon, and I was instantly charmed. They're rounder, flatter and somehow cuter than a normal peach. I bought a pack on a whim… and then I was completely hooked.
I'm not exaggerating when I say flat peaches became a bit of a summer ritual for me. Sweet, juicy, gone in about three bites. I'd find myself reaching for them every single shop, and every time I'd think the same thing: how is a piece of fruit this adorable?
From fruit bowl to plush wardrobe
It probably won't surprise you that the thought eventually wandered somewhere very Jelly Wardrobe: what if a plushie could wear this?
That soft peachy colour, the little green leaf on top, that round, huggable shape — it was practically begging to become an outfit. So I started sketching, picking out the fluffiest peach-toned fabric I could find, and shaping a tiny leafy collar to match. After a few attempts (and a few snacks for "research"), the peach Jellycat outfit was finally born.
When I popped it onto one of my plush bears, I may have squealed a little. There's something so joyful about turning a thing you love into a thing you make — and this one came from a genuinely silly, happy little obsession.

These days the peach Jellycat outfit is one of my favourites, partly because of how it looks, but mostly because of where it came from. It's a reminder that the best ideas often come from the smallest, most everyday moments — even a quiet trip to Tesco.
